Highlights from Summer and the months to
come
As the
Annual General Meeting approaches, we would like to welcome a new member and
review some of the highlights from the last few months and upcoming events
relevant to all members.
The club
has been active over the warmer months with groups booking the whole club.
Eltham Ski Club hosted a number or Scouts in conjunction with the 20th
Annual Australia Rover Moot who enjoyed some time in the mountains between
December 27th, 2016 and January 6th, 2017. If you’re
interested in booking the club for a corporate activity over the year, rates
will be published after the AGM. If you want to make a booking sooner, please
contact the Booking Officer, Geoff Geist at geist02@optusnet.com.au.
Summer Bicycling
Whilst the
Victorian Interschools and our own OLOS/Eltham ski races have become a
highlight of the ski season, Mount Buller is also hosting world-class bike
events that rival the excitement of winter sports. March saw two races taking place, including
the 48km Mansfield to Mount Buller road race that includes a gruelling 16km
uphill ride.
It’s still
not too late to experience the fun on two wheels with the upcoming Blue Dirt
Blowout. On the weekend of April 29-30, single day or weekend passes are
available for downhill shuttles with a free sausage sizzle, free beers and
pizza for all in attendance. Read more here and get your tickets as no registrations will
be taken on the day.
Working Bees
The March
working bee saw an unusually late snow shower, which meant exterior painting
had to be postponed. A lower than expected turnout also put paid to some of the
plans the Maintenance Officer had for the weekend. The next working bee on
April 29-30 so far has a healthy turnout, however a few more helping hands
would be appreciated.
2017 AGM
The Eltham
Ski Club Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday 3rd May at
The Geebung Polo Club in Hawthorn. We welcome the attendance of all members and
look forward to catching up with friends new and old.
Fob Key
Implementation
It looks
like the fob keys are working well and feedback has been positive on the whole.
We are mindful that some fob keys may have been lost or misplaced. If you are
missing any fob keys, could you please contact Jim via email on jtsaouss@bigpond.net.au
with either the details of your missing fobs or the details of the fobs in your
possession.
New member: Brendan
Lynch
Brendan
Lynch joins the club this year along with his wife, Jen and sons Bruno and
Amos. Brendan hails from New Zealand where he started skiing as a child and
into his twenties. He’s stayed at Eltham Ski Club and enjoyed the family
atmosphere. We hope Brendan and his family enjoy their time skiing this year
before heading off to Italy for a five-month sojourn, where he plans to keep
working in his business of manufacturing drinking fountains for the education
sector.
